The Team
The Surrey Provincial Court, Court Administration team is an established and highly dedicated group supporting one of B.C.’s busiest Provincial Court locations, where criminal, youth, family, small claims, and traffic matters are heard. With more than 72 staff working collaboratively with justice partners, the team provides essential services that uphold professionalism, accuracy, and access to justice for the public.
 

The Role
As a Small Claims Registry Technician, you will provide specialized technical and administrative services to support registry staff, court clerks, the judiciary, legal professionals, justice partners, and the public. This role includes adjudicating and processing applications under relevant Acts and Rules, exercising authority as delegated by the Registrar of Small Claims Court, reviewing and signing documents, supporting court proceedings, and training staff—requiring strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic justice environment.
 

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent (GED)
  • Minimum of two (2) years working in a legal environment; or one (1) year experience working in Court Administration OR an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years’ previous work experience in keyboarding, data entry, word processing, standard computer applications and software programs (ex: Windows, MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
     

Preference may given to candidates with:

  • Experience in Court Programs and Applications (JUSTIN, CEIS, CCD, ARC, CTAS)
  • Experience as a Court Clerk and/or Registry Clerk
     

Provisos

  • May be required to work flexible hours, including varied shifts and overtime on short notice.
  • May be required to travel, including travel in adverse weather conditions and work in other geographical areas, including circuit court locations. Must have reliable transportation and/or be willing to travel with others.

This position has full time on-site requirements.
