This is a restricted lateral posting open to employees who hold a (Band 3) base position

Job Overview

This position works within natural resource management (i.e., tenures, stewardship, engineering, corporate services, First Nations) and is accountable for managing the delivery of district wide operations consistent with Ministry priorities and objectives, legislative requirements and oversees a large team comprised of technical, administrative, and professional staff.

This position requires regular travel throughout the District, as well as travel within the Coast Area.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Diploma or higher in Natural Resource Management or in a related field, and five (5) years of directly related experience.
  • Directly related experience is defined as experience in natural resource management within one or more of the following disciplines: forest tenures, forest stewardship, range, forest engineering, water, lands, corporate services, wildfire management, First Nations and land information management.
  • Two (2) years’ experience developing and maintaining working relationships and resolving problems with stakeholders and partners in natural resource management.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence (or equivalent).
     

Preference may be given to those with one or more of the following:

  • Experience in operational management of forest and land resources. Examples of operational management include field work, prescriptions, authorization, or review of natural resource applications.
  • Recent experience (within the last 5 years) in human resource management, including direct supervision, and in leading and coaching diverse teams.
  • Two (2) years’ experience managing a program.
  • Program administration experience including allocating resources, budget management and business planning.
  • Candidates who are (or are immediately eligible for registration) a Registered Professional Forester, Registered Forest Technologist, or other related professional designation.

This position is excluded from union membership.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home up to 2 days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
