The Team
The Okanagan Production Insurance Team is an established group of 12 dedicated professionals located throughout the valley, bringing together management, administrative, and technical expertise to support agricultural producers. As part of this team, you’ll collaborate closely with Production Insurance Representatives, technicians, claims staff, administration, and leadership across the broader Business Risk Management Branch. Together, the team plays a meaningful role in strengthening BC’s agriculture sector by delivering inclusive, accessible risk‑management services that help producers stay resilient and supported.
The Role
In this Program Technician role, you’ll support Program Representatives by helping review and underwrite Production Insurance policies, building strong relationships with BC producers, and contributing to field inspections, reporting, and the claims review process as you learn and grow. Your work directly supports farmers facing increasingly unpredictable weather, helping them manage risk and protect their livelihoods through the Production Insurance program. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Agriculture or Business or a related field and 3 months of related experience*, OR
- Diploma (or due to graduate within 4 months) in Agriculture or Business or a related field and 6 months of related experience, OR
- An equivalent combination of education and/or work experience may be considered.
*Related experience may include the following:
- Direct farming experience.
- Experience with agricultural production or consultation.
- Experience in insurance or sales.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- Agricultural Tree Fruit and/or Grape related experience.
PROVISOS
- A valid Class 5 B.C. driver’s license or Canadian equivalent is required.
- Field work is part of this role which may include travel and outdoor work in all weather conditions with the potential for wildlife overlap.
