The Team:
The Strategic Initiatives and Innovation team is an established group of about 40–50 professionals who lead the BC Wildfire Service’s work in business intelligence, geomatics, research and innovation, continuous improvement, and IMIT development. This collaborative team includes a wide range of experts including technical specialists, data professionals, project managers and innovators who work together to strengthen wildfire management across the province. The Role:
This role provides leadership across the Branch’s strategic planning, business intelligence, information management, geomatics, research and innovation, continuous improvement, and project management functions. You’ll guide a team of 15–20 professional and management staff, creating an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives help shape effective solutions. The work directly supports stronger, more coordinated wildfire management by ensuring the Branch has the information, tools, and strategies needed to serve communities across B.C.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Degree in business administration, public administration or related field PLUS a minimum four (4) years’ senior management experience in progressively higher roles related to business and strategic planning, project management, and/or communications.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered
- Experience in the management, supervision and leadership of geographically dispersed, multi-disciplinary staff.
- Experience planning, managing and evaluating projects and work assignments.
- Experience delivering innovation in service delivery and creating a results-focused organization.
- Experience negotiating/mediating solutions with stakeholders and developing positive, two-way relationships with clients.
- Experience in the management of financial resources and staff.
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

- Minimum one year experience in the BC Wildfire Service.
- Graduate degree in a related field

This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
