Job Overview
As the Senior Development Officer, you lead development services and make statutory decisions that shape safe, sustainable growth across the province. In this high impact role, you will guide a team, collaborate with local governments and Indigenous communities, and ensure development proposals align with legislation, public safety, and the integrity of the highway system. You will also review complex applications, provide technical recommendations on subdivision proposals, and negotiate solutions with applicants to protect Ministry interests. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence BC’s transportation landscape.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent and a minimum of seven (7) years of directly related experience; OR
- Diploma from an Institute of Technology in a related discipline, with four (4) years of directly related experience; OR
- Degree in a related discipline and a minimum of two (2) years of directly related experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in supervising staff and leading teams.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence and be willing to operate a Ministry vehicle.

About this Position:
There is currently one (1) permanent full time position available.
This position is based in Kamloops.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies in Kamloops.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
