Description
The Team
You will join the Construction Standards and Digital Solutions Branch within the Ministry of Housing and Municipal Affairs, a team focused on improving how buildings are designed, constructed, and regulated across British Columbia. Working in a collaborative, matrix-style environment, you will partner with policy analysts, technical building code experts, and stakeholders across government and industry to develop solutions that support safe, accessible, and sustainable buildings.
The Role
As a Senior Policy Analyst, you will lead research, analysis, and the development of policies, regulations, and legislation related to the built environment. You will provide strategic advice to senior leadership and decision-makers on issues such as energy efficiency, public health and safety, accessibility, and building regulatory systems, while collaborating with industry partners, local governments, and other jurisdictions to support effective policy development and implementation.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in public administration, planning, building engineering, architecture, social sciences, or another related field, and a minimum of three (3) years of *related experience.
- Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
*Related experience must include the following:
- Experience in public policy research and analysis or in the development of legislation, regulation, or public policy.
- Experience writing for an executive/senior-level leadership audience (examples include reports, policy concept papers, presentations, briefing notes).
- Experience in managing, coordinating and/or leading complex projects and assignments.
Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following experience:
- Experience working with policies, regulations, bylaws, and/or regulatory systems related to buildings and construction in British Columbia.
- Experience related to the development of policy, legislation, and/or codes in buildings.
- Experience researching, analyzing, and evaluating regulatory programs and/or policies related to the construction sector.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to five (5) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This is a temporary opportunity until April 2, 2027. This position may be extended or become permanent.
