Description

This is a restricted lateral posting open to employees who hold a Band 2 base position.

Job Overview
The Professional Conduct Unit (PCU) receives and investigates complaints and reports about teacher conduct and competence on behalf of the Commissioner, prepares and administers consent resolutions and facilitates informal resolution at the Commissioner’s direction and delegation under the Teachers Act.  The PCU also coordinates the hearing process from the issuance of citation to execution of a hearing panel decision.

The Investigator independently collects and analyses evidence, manages a caseload of investigation files, and completes comprehensive investigation reports relating to professional misconduct, conduct unbecoming, and “fit and proper person” concerns for discipline and certification decision making.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in law or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • One (1) year working on and independently managing case files in a regulatory, investigative, or legal setting.
  • Experience interviewing for the purpose of finding facts. 

Preference may be given to candidates with:

  • Experience interviewing using trauma informed practice in a sensitive environment.
  • Experience interviewing minors.
  • Experience working in the education sector.
  • French language proficiency.
  • Additional years of experience in any of the above requirements and/or preferences.

About this Position:
This position is excluded from union membership.
