Job Overview
The Range Branch provides province wide strategic and operational policy support regarding range practices and monitoring, management of resource stewardship initiatives in the Ecosystem Restoration, Crown Range Infrastructure Programs, and Resource Authorization for Grazing Leases under the Land Act. The Range Branch also delivers the Invasive Plants Program.
The Director Range Branch leads and directs the Range program, promoting an effective balance of stewardship, sustained development and use of the Crown range resources. The position provides executive level direction and leads the development of effective legislation and policy framework ensuring the integration and balancing of range goals; and making strategic decisions involving competing economic, environmental and employment values.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- University degree in agriculture or range management and considerable (minimum of 3 years) operational experience with Crown range management and related issues and challenges.
- Experience in the management and supervision of geographically dispersed, multi-disciplinary staff.
- Experience negotiating/mediating solutions on Crown range.
- Experience establishing and reconciling program and project objectives, priorities and budgets.
- BC Class 5 driver’s licence (or equivalent).
Preference may be given for one or more of the following:
- Registered with the BC Institute of Agrologists as a Professional Agrologist.
- Experience with Statutory Decision Making in the natural resource sector.

This position can be based in any Ministry of Forests office. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work 2 or more days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
