Description
This is a restricted lateral posting open to employees who hold a grid level 27 base position.
Job Overview
To manage and control the delivery of multiple transportation projects in the South Coast Region. Projects may include: route study and functional plan, bridge structure including bridge approaches, improving major arterial roads to four lanes or construction of major freeway with overhead structures, interchanges and extensive frontage road systems through urban areas. Project Manager is a member of a larger team and is required to support initiatives and activities that promote the project delivery team.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- University degree plus 3 years of * related experience.
- College or technical school diploma in civil engineering, geography, urban planning, project management, construction technology, public administration, or related field, or equivalent plus 5 years *related experience.
- Grade 12 or GED plus 7 years *related experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience supervising matrix or functional model.
*Related experience including the following:
- Experience working on DFAA projects, including demonstrated working proficiency with current DFAA requirements.
- Experience negotiating claims.
- Experience delivering projects, with preference given to transportation related projects.
PREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN TO THE FOLLOWING:
- Five or more years experience working in transportation field.
- Familiarity with Project Management Methodology as practiced by the Project Management Institute.
- Experience using project planning software.
- Experience in project cost tracking.
- Experience working with municipal, regional district, and private stakeholders.
- Experience working and negotiating with First Nations.
- Experience negotiating and informing Land Acquisitions.
- Experience on project teams.
- Experience managing contracts.

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until 05/31/2028. This position may be extended or become permanent.
This position can be based in any of the following Ministry of Transportation and Transit offices: Nanaimo, Saanichton, Victoria.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
