BC Timber Sales (BCTS) is a unique program of the Ministry of Forests (MOF). Working collaboratively with regional and district operations, BCTS plans, develops, and auctions a substantial portion of the province’s annual available timber volume. BCTS operates as a for profit entity within a government organization.  Its goal is to provide credible representative price and cost benchmark data for the Market Pricing System through auctions of timber harvested from British Columbia’s public land. BCTS operations are guided by three overarching principles, forest sector safety, reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples and sustainable forest management.

The Team
The Planning Team at BC Timber Sales Cariboo Chilcotin is an established and collaborative group of forest professionals and Indigenous Relations Liaisons who bring diverse perspectives to their work. This inclusive team of seven works closely with partners across the organization to support development activities and help deliver on BCTS mandates, while fostering respectful relationships and shared understanding. Team members are united by a strong commitment to supporting one another and contributing to the success of the broader program.

The Role
The Indigenous Relations Liaison plays an important role in building respectful, collaborative relationships with First Nations by coordinating referrals, participating in community engagement, and ensuring voices are heard and documented. This position supports reconciliation by helping create meaningful opportunities for partnership and economic participation, while fostering understanding and trust. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in a field related to the work of the program area and 2 years of experience related to natural resource or Indigenous Peoples relationship management.
  • Must possess at minimum a valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License that does not limit or restrict the ability to conduct the duties of the job.

Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following:

  • Experience with contract management.
  • Experience or education in forestry or natural resource management.
  • Experience or education related to Indigenous Peoples relationship management.
  • Experience conducting research and analysis related to land use, resource management, social or economic development issues.

Provisos /Willingness statements

  • Must be willing and able to travel to meet job requirements.
  • Must be willing to work extended hours with limited notice, including evenings and weekends.
  • Must be willing and able to travel in fixed and/or rotary winged aircraft and/or watercraft.
