The Team
The Port Coquitlam Law Courts team is a well‑established, highly collaborative group that provides administrative support to both the Provincial and Supreme Courts. With 30 dedicated staff, the team delivers essential in‑court, registry, and accounting services while working closely with justice partners such as lawyers, police, community corrections, court participants, and judicial staff. This team plays a vital role in supporting access to justice, and we value the diverse perspectives and strengths each person brings to creating a fair and effective court system for the community.
The Role
As the Manager of Registry Operations, you will lead the delivery of Provincial and Supreme Court civil and criminal programs while guiding a skilled registry team and ensuring work is completed in line with legislation and Court Services policies. This role combines leadership, staff development, and specialized responsibilities—including Justice of the Peace duties and Deputy District Registrar functions—making you a key resource and subject matter expert. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Grade 12 graduation or equivalent, preferably supplemented with post-secondary courses in a related field. (this may include, but not limited to, business administration; public administration; criminology; general studies, etc.) or an equivalent combination of education and experience within the justice or legal system.
- Must have or be able to obtain an appointment as a Justice of the Peace in the Province of British Columbia
- Must have or be able to obtain certification as a District Registrar of Supreme Court of BC
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of one-year supervisory experience
- Experience in personnel management, financial management, policy and contractual interpretation, public administration principles and practices, program planning and project management.
- Experience in budget/FTE, resource management and risk management.
- Experience in building relationships with justice stakeholders
- Experience in issues management.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- Work experience within the justice system, Court Services Branch and/or legal system
- Supervisory experience with Court Administration
- Management experience with Court Administration
- A current Deputy District Registrar designation
- A current Justice of the Peace appointment
