The Team
The Litigation Group is an established team of around 180 professionals who conduct litigation and provide legal advice to all ministries of the government, Cabinet, and certain public agencies. We appear on behalf of the province at all levels of court and before certain administrative tribunals and are responsible for all aspects of the preparation and conduct of mediations, trials, and other hearings. Our diverse team operates out of Vancouver and Victoria, working closely together to navigate the fast-paced world of legal challenges. The Role
As a Legal Assistant, you'll play a crucial role in supporting a dynamic legal team within the Litigation Group. You will be responsible for providing administrative support to legal counsel, including drafting and managing legal documents, coordinating meetings and logistics, and preparing for trials. You'll also maintain a detailed records management system and handle a variety of legal matters independently, with minimal supervision. This fast-paced, high-volume role offers the opportunity to develop valuable skills and experience a strong sense of accomplishment as you see the direct results of your work. Working closely with lawyers and paralegals, you'll be part of a collaborative team that values learning and professional growth.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
- Completion of a Legal Office Administrative Assistant program from a recognized institution, or equivalent knowledge and experience in a legal environment.
- Minimum one (1) year experience using Microsoft Office programs and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience meeting deadlines and organizing lawyer meetings and schedules via Outlook, Skype and Microsoft Teams.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- Experience working in a litigation environment.
- Experience working on Litigation files.
- Experience working on civil forfeiture files.
- Experience with the BC Supreme Court Civil Rules and court filing processes.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
