The Team
The Forest Operations Team at BC Timber Sales (BCTS) is a skilled team with experience in all phases of forest operations including harvest conformance and timber sales development. This team collaborates with BCTS functional teams, other forest professionals, government agencies, local interest groups and nations. The Forest Operations team ensures adherence to legislative and regulatory requirements. Through knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and continuous improvement, the Forest Operations Team takes an innovative approach to problem-solving and delivering practical and effective solutions. The Role
As an Operations Technologist, you will report to the Woodlands Supervisor of Forest Operations. Your responsibilities will include creating and monitoring business area contracts and Timber Sales Licences, with skills in GIS, field verification, riparian, timber development, and harvest compliance. Your work will contribute to the sustainable management and development of public timber while upholding our commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and equity. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

• Graduation from an approved technical institute with a diploma or degree in resource or forestry management and three (3) years of experience in one (1) or more operational field forestry activities, OR
• An equivalent combination of education or experience such as five (5) years of experience in one (1) or more area of operational field forestry.

Operational field forestry activities include the following:

• • Timber harvesting monitoring/conformance
  • Cut-block development
  • Forest road engineering
  • Silviculture
  • Timber tenure development and administration

• Applicants must be registered or eligible for registration with Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC) as a Registered Forest Technologist or equivalent. 
• Must possess at minimum a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence that does not limit or restrict the ability to conduct the duties of the job.

Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:

• Specific operational field-based forestry experience in tenure development, road and block layout, or timber tenure administration.
• Experience in contract or financial administration.
• Experience in client relationship management.

About this Position:
This position is located in Prince George.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established for future permanent and/or temporary opportunities.
Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
