Job Overview
As the Business Application Advisor, you represent the program area in the design, development, and ongoing implementation, enhancement and maintenance of business processes and applications that meet current and future business needs. By collaborating with diverse teams and interested parties, you will dive into workflow analysis, reimagine processes and develop practical, user centred solutions that improve efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance. You apply strong analytical skills to assess business requirements, interpret qualitative and quantitative data, evaluate the impacts of proposed changes, and translate business needs into evidence informed specifications and recommendations that ensure process, application, and information management improvements are well designed and effectively implemented.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, computer sciences, information technology, or a field related to the program area and one (1) year of *related experience; OR
  • Diploma in business administration, public administration, computer sciences, information technology, or a field related to the program area and two (2) years *related experience; OR
  • Certificate or coursework in business administration, public administration, computer sciences, information technology, or a field related to the program area and three (3) years *related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
     

*Related experience includes the following:

  • Experience providing end to end business analysis for key business applications including writing and executing user acceptance test scenarios, and/or gathering and documenting business requirements.
  • Experience with business processes and applications including implementation planning and testing, security, and the development of analytical reports. 
  • Experience in change management processes and project management methodologies.
  • Experience in working collaboratively with various partners on business process development and change.


Preference may be given for:

  • Experience with PowerBI.
  • Professional in Business Analysis Certification.
  • Lean Certification.
  • Experience working with Indigenous clients and partners in the social sector.
  • Experience in the childcare and/or social sector and/or a public facing social service delivery organization.
  • Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.

About this Position:

Amendment April 29, 2026: posting closing date extended to May 10, 2026.
There are two temporary opportunities until 08/31/2027. This position may be extended or become permanent.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.

Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
