Job Overview
The focus of this job is to develop policy, guidance and other tools to improve the stewardship of ecological corridors and connectivity in British Columbia. This position is not about furthering science through field research; it is about working with people to develop policy and guidance. This will require the incumbent to lead the research, analysis, development and implementation of strategic policies and processes that directly support the stewardship of ecological connectivity and corridors at a landscape scale within the Natural Resource Sector. Ecological connectivity is an evolving, expansive and highly strategic area of business that requires policy development in collaboration with different sectors of business (e.g., Highways, Forests, Agriculture), First Nations and other partners to maintain and improve the ability of wild species to move across the landscape.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Master’s degree in public administration, business administration, law, economics, social sciences, natural resource management or a field related to the program area and two (2) years of related experience; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, law, economics, social sciences, natural resource management or a field related to the program area and three (3) years of related experience; OR
- Certificate or coursework in public administration, business administration, law, economics, social sciences, natural resource management or a field related to the program area and five (5) years related experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Related years of experience must be in each of the following:
- Experience in the development of legislation, regulation, policy, guidance, and extension materials.
- Experience in planning and coordinating complex projects/assignments.
- Experience in concisely and persuasively writing a range of documents/content.
- Experience providing professional advice and recommendations on legislation, policy and programs through policy papers and briefing material.
- Experience analyzing and developing science-based policy.
- Experience working with conservation biology and landscape ecology.
Preference may be given to candidates with:
- One (1) year’ experience developing collaborative relationships with Indigenous Peoples and external partners.
- One (1) year’ experience working with the natural resource sector.

About this Position:
This position can be based in any Water, Land, Resource Stewardship office. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home up to 5 days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
There is currently a temporary opportunity available until May 30th, 2027.
