The Team
The Programs and Services Team is part of the Heritage Branch and is an established, collaborative team of six professionals with expertise in heritage resource management, toponymy, and fossil heritage. Team members work closely with Heritage Planners, senior specialists, and provincial roles such as the Provincial Registrar and Collections Manager, as well as database teams across government. The team is well known for its collaborative approach and for providing trusted advice that supports heritage protection and engagement throughout British Columbia.
The Role
This role focuses on administering heritage programs, providing policy advice, leading engagement, and building relationships with partners inside and outside government. The position plays a key role in shaping new heritage programs and policies, and helping communities conserve and celebrate both tangible and intangible heritage. Candidates will find this opportunity rewarding due to the unique scope of heritage work in BC, ranging from ancient fossil heritage to living cultural traditions that continue to shape communities today.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, social sciences, planning, history, archeology, heritage conservation, tourism, museum studies or equivalent.

Preference may be given to candidates with a Master’s degree in public administration, business administration, social sciences, planning, history, archeology, heritage conservation, tourism, museum studies, archival studies or equivalent.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

Experience developing or applying policy, procedures or legislation related to heritage management or conservation.

Preference may be given to candidates with a minimum of one year of experience related to heritage conservation, heritage resource management, heritage or cultural tourism, heritage conservation, or tourism management.

About this Position:
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home two (2) days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
