This is a restricted lateral posting open to employees who hold a Grid 24 base position.
Job Overview:
Reporting to a Senior Authorizations Specialist, Section Head or excluded manager for the West Coast Land Authorizations team and working in a variety of settings, the Authorizations Specialist provides technical advice and may make decisions regarding the allocation of resources and adjudication of Crown Land authorizations under the Land Act.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a natural resource management field and 2 years of related experience; OR
- Diploma in a natural resource management field and 3 years related experience; OR
- Certificate or coursework in a natural resource management field and 4 years related experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Related Experience may include:
- Experience working in natural resource management.
- Experience performing technical duties and working with key statutes that support natural resource management.
- Experience in consulting, negotiating, and resolving conflicts in natural resource management.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- Experience performing technical duties and working with the Land Act.
- Experience in Indigenous consultation processes and practices.
Willingness statements or provisos:
- Valid BC driver’s licence.
- Willingness to conduct field work which may include travel to remote areas by vehicle, boat, air, or foot, overnight or extended stay in rough camp conditions and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
- Must be physically able to carry equipment and supplies in difficult terrain.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This position can be based out of any of the locations listed above.
This is a temporary opportunity until December 31, 2026. This position may be extended or become permanent.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
