Job Overview
Supplies data and information, through assessment and analysis of stand, forest, geographic and biophysical information, to assist in determining the quantitative impacts of simple to complex silviculture practices on stand and forest development, as well as on economic, social, and environmental conditions. To report on forest conditions; to provide data and analysis to support the development and implementation of best management practices and standards, as well as inform the development of legislation, regulations and policy changes that enable implementation of these best practices.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Registered, or immediately eligible for registration within six (6) months of employment, as a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) with Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC). Confirmation of registration/eligibility is required before an offer of employment can be made.
- Master’s Degree in Forestry or Natural Resource Management, or related field, and at least five (5) years of recent, related experience; OR,
- Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or related field, and seven (7) years of recent, related experience; OR,
- An equivalent combination of related education, training, and recent, related experience (e.g., forestry technical diploma plus at least nine (9) years of recent, related experience).
Recent (within the past ten (10) years), related experience must include each of the following:
- Experience working with silviculture practices, data management systems and applications of associated standards.
- Experience using GIS and carrying out spatial analysis.
- Experience using RESULTS data for silviculture and statistical analysis.
Preference may be given to those who have one (1) or both of the following:
- Experience using growth and yield tools and products.
- Experience in project management and contract development.

About this Position:
There is currently one (1) temporary position available for approximately 12 months. This temporary position may be extended or become permanent.
Board and lodging and relocation expenses do not apply to temporary positions.
This position can be based in any Ministry of Forests’ office. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.
Depending on the successful candidate’s location, a bi-weekly isolation allowance may apply.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
