Job Overview
Reporting to the Section Head, Wildfire Resilience and Forest Stewardship and working in a variety of settings, the Coordinator, Wildfire Resilience and Forest Stewardship works in diverse teams, gathers and manages complex natural resource data, completes analysis and develops options, provides advice to statutory decision makers, facilitates and coordinates projects and engages directly with a wide variety of partners and stakeholders to support land/resource management decisions and resolve complex stewardship issues.
The Coordinator, Wildfire Resilience and Forest Stewardship supports the three (3) BC Parks’ Areas across the province and the Regional Operations Branch in wildfire prevention, planning, and prescribed fire.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Degree in a natural resource related field (or equivalent as recognized by FPBC) and two (2) years of related experience.
- Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a fully licensed Registered Professional Forester (RPF) with Forest Professionals BC (FPBC). Confirmation of registration/eligibility will be required before an offer of employment can be made.
- Coursework and/or experience in project management.
- Experience managing multiple projects or leading a component (e.g., sub-project) of a major project.
- Experience managing relationships with partners and stakeholders and/or leading engagement.
- Experience in conflict and dispute resolution principles and practices.
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence or equivalent.
- Preference may be given to applicants with experience in one or more of the following:
- contract management;
- procurement coursework and/or experience;
- fuel management;
- ecosystem restoration; and/or,
- prescribed fire.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be willing and able to withstand the rigors of fieldwork, work in all weather conditions, travel to meet job requirements which may include overnight or extended stays, and travel in fixed and/or rotary winged aircraft and watercraft.
- Must be physically capable of carrying out the duties of the position.

About this Position:
Amendment May 4th, 2026: there are currently two (2) permanent, full-time positions available; one (1) in the North Area and one (1) in the Coast Area.
One position can be based in a Natural Resource Sector office in the North Area and one can be based in a Natural Resource Sector office in the Coast Area.

Depending on the successful candidate’s location, a bi-weekly isolation allowance may apply.
Flexible work options are available; these positions may be able to work a few days at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies in the North and Coast Areas.
