Job Overview
Reporting to the Team Lead, Financial Operations, the Accounting and Operations Clerk provides comprehensive operational support for a large program area. The position processes a wide range of routine financial transactions, consisting mostly of accounts payable and accounts receivable, cheque receipting, invoice tracking, CAS data entry, reconciliations, and preparation of journal vouchers. The role also gathers, verifies, and compiles financial information to support budget development, financial projections, and related analyses. The position assists in the maintenance of financial systems, supports allocation and tracking of financial and program resources, provides information on financial policies and procedures, and maintains required financial records and documentation.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Certificate or coursework and six (6) months of related experience in accounting and budgeting; OR
- Secondary school graduation (Dogwood, GED) and one (1) year of related experience in accounting and budgeting; OR
- Evergreen and two (2) years of related experience in accounting and budgeting; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Related experience in accounting and budgeting must include:
- Processing invoices, receipts, payments and deposits in CAS.
- Processing contract payments, matching invoices/payments to contract purchase orders accurately and maintaining a detailed audit trail.
- Setting up and modifying contracts in iProcurement.
- Setting up and modifying purchase order lines in CAS.
In addition to the above requirements, preference may be given to those with one (1) or more of the following:
- Minimum of two (2) years of related accounts receivable and accounts payable experience gained in a public service or government environment.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience processing invoices, journal vouchers, deposits (accounts payable and receivable) transactions in CAS.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience with purchase order set-up in CAS.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience with iProcurement.

This position is located in Victoria.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in B.C. at the time of employment.
