This is a restricted lateral posting open to employees who hold a Grid 24 base position

Job Overview
This position provides a leadership role in engagement and consultation with First Nations and stakeholders to help deliver the Regional Wildlife program. This position also provides scientific leadership and specialized expertise to the Section Head.

Qualifications:
Education and related experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or a related field and two (2) years of related experience. An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be considered.
  • Related experience in designing, developing and delivering fish, wildlife or habitat management monitoring and assessments.

Preference may be given to those with one (1) or more of the following:

  • Experience leading engagement or consultation processes with multiple First Nations governments or stakeholders.
  • Experience related to Indigenous Peoples relationship management.
  • Experience interpreting and applying natural resource management legislation and policy.

Professional Registration and Certification Requirements:

  • Registered, or immediately eligible for registration within six (6) months of employment, as a Registered Professional Biologist (RPBio) in BC with the College of Applied Biologists (CAB). Confirmation of registration/eligibility is required before an offer of employment can be made.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid BC driver’s licence.
  • Must be physically able to carry equipment and supplies in difficult terrain.
  • Must be able to conduct field work in all weather conditions and environments. This may include travel to remote areas by vehicle, boat, air or foot, overnight or extended stay in camp conditions and operation of a variety of equipment.
  • Must meet safety standards of WorkSafe BC.

About this Position:
There is currently one (1) temporary, full time position available until July 23rd, 2027.
This temporary appointment may be extended or become permanent.
Remote work is allowed. This position can work up to full time from their home in British Columbia subject to an approved Telework Agreement. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.

Job Profile
