Job Overview
The Director of Operations will lead and independently manage key divisional and Ministry projects, and manages service-based operations, including the control of financial and human resources. The position is responsible for managing the development, implementation and evaluation of strategic cross-ministry initiatives, significant provincial operational and policy issues, as well as, major projects or a business component of large multi-faceted projects with multiple key deliverables.
This position supports the achievement of ministry goals and objectives by developing and leading key resource management strategies and initiatives. The Assoc. DMO is looking for a dynamic, creative and self-directed individual who is comfortable with a fast pace, works effectively in a public-sector political environment, and has experience within the natural resource sector. The successful candidate must have exceptional communication skills, the ability to effectively manage a diverse portfolio of responsibilities, and a deft hand in dealing with competing interests.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a field related to natural resource management, business/public administration or acceptable equivalent.
- At least two (2) years experience dealing with politically sensitive and provincially significant issues and with developing policy, procedures and corporate practices.
- At least one (1) year experience leading and coaching diverse teams and in financial and human resource management.
- At least one (1) year experience leading and resolving complex staff and/or client issues.
- At least one (1) year experience managing a portfolio of clients in a customer service environment.
