Job Overview
The Senior Advisor, First Nations Relations examines proposals of high economic value for use of natural resources on Crown Land and determine the impact on First Nations’ identified or potential traditional use areas. This position carries out consultations and negotiations to address First Nations concerns and referrals to municipalities and other government Ministries while minimizing any negative impacts on provincial revenues.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in resource management and two (2) years of related experience; OR
- Bachelor’s Degree in resource management or other relevant discipline and three (3) years of related experience; OR
- Diploma in resource management or other relevant discipline and four (4) years of related experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Must possess and maintain a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
Related Experience may include:
- Experience participating in consultations/negotiations with First Nations.
- Experience conducting research and analysis related to land use, resource management, social or economic development issues.
- Experience in policy development and implementation.

About this Position:
There is currently one (1) temporary, full-time position available for approximately one year; this may be extended.
This position can be based in a Natural Resource Sector office. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.
Depending on the successful candidate’s location, a bi-weekly isolation allowance may apply.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to three (3) days at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
