Job Overview
The Lead Data Scientist uses their extensive technical knowledge and experience with complex data analysis and modelling techniques to lead major analytical projects in support of market regulation, tax policy, tax compliance, and other Ministry priorities. The Lead Data Scientist provides timely analysis and policy advice to key decision-makers.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

• University degree in economics, statistics, math, or similar quantitative discipline
• Experience using SQL to query a database.
• Experience using R or Python programming languages.
• Experience leading project teams and acting as a technical resource to other staff.
• At least four (4) years of experience leading complex research projects/assignments.
• At least four (4) years of experience providing informational materials, advice, and recommendations (both written and oral) to senior staff.
   

Preference may be given to applicants with:

• Graduate degree in a relevant discipline.
• Experience supervising staff.
• Experience building machine learning models.
• Experience of forensic data analytics or statistical fraud detection.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
