Description
The Team
The Strengthening Abilities and Journeys of Empowerment (SAJE) program (named by the Ministry’s Youth Advisory Council) is a new program designed to assist youth and young adults in and from Ministry care, to achieve their goals and connect them with supports and services.
The Role
Under the supervision of the Team Leader, SAJE Guide is a key point of contact and resource for young adults who have left the care of the ministry. Guides support young adults in their transition to adulthood by providing continuity of service, a connection to a broad range of adult government, community and cultural supports and services, and access to financial supports post 19 years of age. The Guide supports Navigators to ensure the right people are brought together to collectively plan, make decisions, and commit to actions that best support the transition of young adults to adulthood. Guides collaborate with other ministry staff to support relational and cultural stability, assist young adults to consider and plan for their future goals, and support the management and updating of the transition plan.
Guides are part of provincial and regional teams that are not all physically co-located together. They may be expected to work independently due to their geographic location. Teams use virtual tools to connect for tele- practice meetings and share information in real time. This includes phone, videoconferencing, computer technologies as well as participating in in-person meetings with young adults and partners in community locations as feasible or required.
You can find more information about the SAJE program here.
