Job Overview
To process complex and highly sensitive information access requests to Ministry held records, in accordance with applicable legislation, and determine if records should be released or withheld, based on review and analysis of requests.
Requests are received from the public as well as various public bodies (e.g. law enforcement) and/or Government Agencies governed by statutory or legislated power (Representative for Children and Youth, BC Coroner, Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee, Indigenous Governing Bodies, Adoption Services, Civil Litigation, etc.).
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Diploma in Law, Public Administration, Information Management, or Communications or other directly-related discipline or an equivalent combination of education/training and experience.
- Experience interpreting and applying related legislation.
Preference may be given to applicants who have 1 or more of the following:
- Desktop self-sufficiency (standard office software, email and calendar systems) and experience with scanning equipment.
- Experience with interpreting content and applying redactions in accordance with various legislations and policies
- Experience with case management systems such as ICM and FOI Mod App (Freedom of Information Modernization Application)
Willingness statement(s):
- Must be able to lift heavy boxes (up to 50lbs).
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time at the workstation, therefore, frequent stretching and attention to ergonomic health is a high priority.
- Must handle old, dusty and often disturbing, highly confidential and sensitive materials.
