The Team
The B.C. Corrections Adult Custody Division team is an established, close-knit group where the Warden's Assistant will work with one direct report and a collaborative team of administrative professionals. This team values inclusivity and teamwork, supporting one another across roles to ensure all managers’ needs are met and that employee information is handled with care, respect, and accuracy. In this dynamic environment, you’ll partner with colleagues such as Switchboard Operators and Staffing Assistants, contributing to effective communication and processes that help every team member feel supported and able to succeed.
The Role
As the Warden's Assistant, you will report directly to the Warden and work closely with the administrative team to ensure consistent coverage and smooth day-to-day operations. You will play an important part in supporting clear, respectful communication by responding to inquiries from community professionals and helping ensure the needs of those in our care are addressed with empathy and fairness. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
• Secondary school graduation or equivalent (GED).
• Minimum 2 years clerical/administrative support experience, education and/or training.
• Experience in dealing with confidential matters using sound judgment, tact and diplomacy. An equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training may be considered.
• Experience/training in keyboarding (50 WPM); Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; use of the Internet; and other standard computer applications.
• Experience in providing services to various levels of government, industry, public and private organizations;
• Experience in supervising staff;
• Demonstrated experience working well with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
• Executive level in clerical/administrative support experience.
• Intermediate level of experience with Word, Excel, Outlook.

- Willingness to keep self informed on current trends and issues through ongoing training, education and participation in branch projects;
- Willingness to work flexible/extended hours as necessary; and
- Willingness to travel occasionally, for varying lengths of time.
