Job Overview
Under the direction of the Air Audit Coordinator, the Air Audit Technician conducts regular audits of all air quality monitoring equipment that is operated as part of the Provincial Air Quality Monitoring Network to ensure that reliable air quality data for the Province of British Columbia is collected and reported. This position also provides expertise to the Ministry’s air audit program including the development and implementation of air audit methods and procedures and coordinating delivery of the field program with the Air Audit Coordinator, regional staff, permit holders and other operators.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A degree in electronics, instrumentation, environmental sciences, or related field, and one (1) year of related air quality monitoring experience; or
  • A technical diploma in electronics, instrumentation, environmental sciences, or related field, and two (2) years of relevant experience in air quality monitoring; or
  • An equivalent combination of education, experience and training.

Related experience:

  • Experience working with environmental monitoring equipment, including operating, servicing, troubleshooting and conducting verifications of instrument operation.
  • Experience developing procedures and methodology.
  • Experience in the operation of complex programs and projects.
  • Experience following program and project objectives and priorities.
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence or equivalent.
  • Preference may be given to those with experience conducting site inspections.

Willing and able to:

  • Maintain required safety certifications.
  • Travel, including flights and driving long distances.
  • Work in industrial environments, including climbing stacks.
  • Work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Work evenings, weekends and holidays, when required.
  • Must be willing and physically able to conduct field work.

This position can be based in any of the following locations: Sidney, Surrey, or Prince George.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary vacancies in the above locations.
