The Team
Autism Information Services BC (AIS BC) is an established provincial program within Specialized Provincial Services (SPS). The team is composed of skilled specialists and a small Registry of Autism Service Providers (RASP) team who work collaboratively in a supportive and collegial environment that values knowledge‑sharing, mentorship, and continuous learning. AIS BC works closely with colleagues across other SPS programs, Child and Youth with Support Needs (CYSN) services, government partners, and community service providers, offering new team members exposure to a broad network and a strong understanding of the provincial service landscape. As part of the CYSN redesign, the team is evolving its scope of services to better meet the needs of a broader and more diverse population of families of children and youth with a range of support needs, offering a meaningful opportunity to contribute to system‑wide change. With staff working across multiple Provincial Centralized Services Centre (PCSC) offices and hybrid schedules, the program prioritizes strong virtual connections, and inclusive team‑building practices.
The Role
The Autism Support and Resource Specialist plays an important provincial role in supporting families by helping them navigate multiple support systems during key moments in their child’s development. By providing clear, evidence‑based information and curated resources related to autism and related neurodiversities including assessment process, diagnosis, and available services and supports across British Columbia. As part of the Child and Youth with Support Needs (CYSN) redesign, this role is adjusting to support families of children and youth with a broader range of support needs. Through this work, families are better equipped to understand their options, make informed decisions, and access supports that reflect their child’s unique needs and circumstances.
