The Team
Specialized Provincial Services is responsible for delivering programs and operational services to clients across the province through a customer service virtual (telephone and internet) service delivery model. Through Autism Funding, At Home Medical Benefits, SAJE programs and BC Children and Youth Disability Benefit, Specialized Provincial Services provides medical equipment, supplies, and benefits, and information services to families, service providers and district offices on the programs, benefits, and services available to children and youth with additional support needs.

The Role
This Team Lead’s role is to supervise a team responsible for the delivery of financial and administrative services for the program areas. The role works for Specialized Provincial Services and ensures that all decisions are within parameters of relevant legislation, policy and regulations while leading a team. This role deals with complex issues not covered by general procedures that have been escalated by staff.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in an administrative, social sciences, or human services field (e.g., Business Administration, Public Administration, Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Nursing, Communications, Health Information Science, Public Health, etc.) and a minimum of six (6) months of recent, related experience*; OR
  • A diploma in a related discipline and a minimum of one (1) year of recent, related experience*, may be considered; OR
  • Secondary school graduation and a minimum of two (2) years of recent, related experience*, may be considered.

* Recent (within the last 3 years) related experience must include all of the following:

  • Experience providing exceptional customer service in a fast-paced, customer focused environment.
  • Experience processing financial transactions (e.g. preparing financial documents, checking invoices for accuracy, completing routine payments, liaising with others to resolve payment issues, problems and/or concerns).

AND

  • A minimum of six (6) months of experience supervising one or more direct reports in an office environment, including managing employee performance, providing coaching and feedback, supporting staff development, allocating work, and addressing day-to-day operational issues.

Preference may be given to candidates with the following:

  • Experience interpreting and applying legislation, regulations and/or policies in a public sector environment.
  • Experience interpreting and applying policy, legislation and regulations for autism funding programs.
  • Experience supervising is staff in an office call centre or similar high volume setting.
  • Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.
