This is a restricted lateral posting open to employees who hold a Band 2 base position.

Job Overview
As a Workers’ Adviser, you manage a large number of complex files while providing excellent service to clients in a responsive, professional manner. You offer expert, independent advice on interpreting the Workers Compensation Act, its regulations, and policies. Your role involves conducting research, gathering evidence, and delivering clear, sound advice, along with timely submissions and representations at appeals.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • University degree in a related discipline.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • One (1) or more years of experience in the following:

    • Providing advice to clients regarding the interpretation and application of legislation, regulation, policies and procedures;
    • Effectively managing a high volume, demanding, active caseload; and
    • Effectively managing clients in crisis (i.e., angry, distraught, suicidal).
  • One (1) or more years of relevant work experience in one or a combination of:

    • Investigating/case managing of public administration issues; 
    • Adjudicating in a court, tribunal or board setting; and/ or
    • Representing clients before courts, tribunals or boards.

Preference may be given to candidates with legal training.

About this Position:
This position can be based out of any of the locations listed above.
Three (3) permanent positions and one (1) temporary position are available.
The temporary opportunity is until June 11, 2027. This position may be extended or become permanent.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work a two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
This position is excluded from union membership.
