Job Overview
This role entails providing a wide array of confidential secretarial and administrative services, in addition to supporting the Executive Director and Regional Managers as needed.
Working under the guidance of the Business Management Coordinator, this position demands strong organizational skills and a comprehensive understanding of administrative procedures. Regular interaction with the Southern Interior Region (SIR) Management Team, Ministry Executive offices, as well as public and private sector entities is essential to stay informed about pertinent internal and external matters within the SIR.
With a primary focus on customer service and issue resolution, the role involves organizing, monitoring, and addressing public inquiries and complaints, while proactively managing potential negative reactions. Interested parties range from the general public, MLA’s, and local and regional governmental bodies to Ministry Executives.
Responsibilities also include overseeing various special projects and tasks that arise from decisions made by the Executive and Regional Management Teams. Additionally, the role involves coordinating high-level, confidential administrative and secretarial support for the Executive Director and the Regional Management Team, either through direct supervision or by liaising with Managers and supervisors across the SIR.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Certificate or Coursework in Business Administration and six (6) months of related experience; or
- Secondary School graduation (Dogwood or GED) and two (1) year of related experience; or
- Evergreen and two (2) years of related experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
Related Experience must include the following:
- Administrative support or clerical experience
- Experience in Records Management.
Preference may be given to applicant with:
- Certification or higher level of education in business administration, public administration, or other related educations.
- Three (3) years or more office administrative support or clerical experience.
- Experience working in Microsoft suite at an intermediate level (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams and Outlook).
- Experience working with the Ministry of Transportation and Transit.
- Possess and maintain a valid BC Driver’s License.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work 1 or more days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
