This is a restricted lateral posting open to employees who hold a Band 3 base position.
Job Overview
The Superintendent of Public Works is responsible for long range planning and management of a comprehensive program of community infrastructure. The position is also responsible for water purveyance to the adjacent jurisdiction. The Superintendent develops and institutes operational policies, bylaws and regulations. The position builds and maintains relationships with residents, stakeholders and other jurisdictions, including adjacent public works and planning departments, police, fire, highways, regional district and health authorities.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Technical Diploma in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum two years’ experience in each of the following:
- Managing Municipal Public Works operations.
- Managing and leading teams in a supervisory capacity.
- Membership or eligibility for membership with the Public Works Association of BC and Engineering Operators Certification Program.
Preference May Be Given To Applicants With:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Experience and qualification as a Level 2 Water Distribution operator.
- Trades qualification applicable to public works.
- Basic First Aid or higher level training.
- Supervising staff in a unionized environment.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available. This position may be able to work up to 1 day at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This is a temporary opportunity until August 22, 2026. This position may be extended or become permanent.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
