Description

The Team
The Community Integration Services Branch delivers programs and services across the province through in-reach and outreach approaches to connect individuals with services. The team helps individuals who may be experiencing or at risk of homelessness and who may be suffering from trauma, mental health and addiction issues to navigate multiple services and systems.

The Role
The Assistant Supervisor is actively involved in planning, organizing, and evaluating the delivery of a broad range of programs and services to efficiently and effectively utilize Ministry resources and meet the needs of citizens, the community and the province.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Completed a post-secondary program in Social Services, Public Administration, Business Administration, and two years related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience working in a social service environment.

Related Experience must include all of the following: 

  • Leading staff in a high volume, rapidly changing customer service environment.
  • Leading staff through activities such as coaching, evaluating performance, providing direction to employees, orienting/training, scheduling and using analytics to monitor performance.
  • Providing services to citizens from diverse backgrounds, including but not limited to, citizens with mental and physical health issues including substance use issues, and citizens who may be in crisis, impacted by trauma, and displaying frustration.
  • Planning, directing, monitoring, organizing, assessing and/or controlling of the resources of an organization.
  • Delivering programs and services requiring an assessment of eligibility, and applying rules, regulations and/or legislation.
  • Working with various computer applications: Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word; specialized data-bases, records-management, or case-management programs.

Preferences 

  • Experience working in a community-based role (i.e., outreach worker, shelter worker, health care worker, social worker, etc.)

About this Position:
There is one (1) permanent position located in Kelowna.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies and will be used exclusively by the Community Integration Services Branch.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home up to 1 day at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
Successful applicants would be required to physically work in the location posted and would not be eligible to be placed elsewhere in the province by virtue of this competition.
Enhanced Security Screening will be required.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
