The Team
The Tenure and Resource Stewardship Branch is an established, collaborative team of about 15 professionals with specialized roles who work together to manage subsurface energy tenure across the province. You’ll partner with a diverse group of colleagues and external partners—including Indigenous Relations, regulators, and technical experts—supporting inclusive, transparent decision-making that respects different perspectives and communities. The Role
In this role, you will provide advice and guidance to clients and colleagues on oil and gas tenure administration, helping people understand legislation, policies, and processes in a clear and respectful way. You will review and process a wide range of tenure requests, make decisions that affect resource management and provincial revenue, and support accuracy through quality checks and audits. The work is varied and collaborative, involving partnerships with technical experts, Indigenous Relations, and external stakeholders, while valuing diverse perspectives and inclusive practices. You will also contribute to improving systems and processes, with opportunities to share your ideas, build your skills, and make a meaningful impact for communities across British Columbia.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Diploma from a two (2) year geological technologist program and two (2) years of industry experience providing technical support to petroleum and/or natural gas exploration or drilling operations is preferred, or
- Grade 12 and four (4) years clerical administrative experience including experiencing entering and retrieving data from computer information systems; analyzing technical information for accuracy and completeness and compliance with regulatory requirements; providing formal training and explaining regulatory requirements to industry clients.
- Experience with oil and gas industry clients preferred.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
