Job Overview
The Security Programs Division provides statutorily governed public safety programs such as: Cannabis Security Screening, Criminal Records Review Program (CRRP), Security Services Act (SSA) Program, and non-statutorily governed programs such as the Protection Order Registry (POR) and the Personnel Security Screening Office (PSSO). Reporting to the Director of Security Screening, the two Managers of Security Screening will provide leadership to the PSSO, including the Enhanced Security Screening program; the CRRP (client services and risk assessment) and Cannabis Security Screening program. The Managers will oversee complex security screening investigations and provide leadership and technical guidance to team leads and investigators. The Managers will make statutory decisions under the Criminal Records Review Act and the Cannabis Control and Licensing Act. The Managers will establish a sound framework, based on the principles of administrative law and natural justice, to ensure consistent, independent recommendations and reports are produced.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Degree in social work, criminology, law, or public administration, and a minimum of 4 years of recent (within the last 6 years) progressively responsible and related experience; OR
- Post-Secondary Diploma and 6 years of recent (within the last 8 years) related experience.
Related Experience Must Include:
- Minimum of 2 years of investigative experience working within a government regulatory environment: Investigative experience is defined as and must include: information gathering, interviewing, applying facts to criteria set out in Acts, Regulations and/or policies, and making recommendations; PLUS
- Minimum 2 years of interpreting and applying knowledge of Acts, Regulations and Policies; PLUS
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the supervision of multi-disciplinary operational employees and demonstrated competence in overseeing investigations.
- A combination of the required education and experience may be considered.
Preference may be given to candidates with:
- Experience supervising and reviewing the work of an investigative team in a regulatory environment.

This is a temporary opportunity until February 28, 2028. This position may be extended.

Remote work is allowed, this position can work up to full time from their home in British Columbia subject to an approved telework agreement.
