This is a restricted lateral posting open to employees who hold a Grid 21 base position

Job Overview
To provide senior technical advisory services to a program area in the natural resource sector.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a natural resource field and six months of related experience*; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in a natural resource field and one (1) year of related experience*; OR
  • Diploma in a natural resource field and three (3) years related experience*; OR
  • Certificate or coursework in a natural resource field and four (4) years related experience*; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and related experience* may be considered.

  Registration Requirements:

  • Registered, or immediately eligible for registration as a Registered Forest Technologist or related designation with Forest Professionals BC.
  • Valid B.C. driver’s licence.

*Related Experience must include the following:

  • Experience performing technical duties and working with key statutes that support natural resource management which may include timber harvesting monitoring/conformance, cut-block development, forest road engineering, silviculture, timber tenure development and administration, wildfire management and/or wildfire risk reduction. 

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • One (1) years of experience in wildfire management and/or wildfire risk reduction, including prescribed burning.
  • Three (3) years of experience in more than one operational field-based forestry activities which may include timber harvesting monitoring/conformance, cut-block development, forest road engineering, silviculture, timber tenure development and administration, wildfire management and/or wildfire risk reduction
  • Six (6) months of experience in contract or financial administration.

Willingness statements or provisos

  • Willing and able to meet safety standards of Work Safe BC.
  • Willing and able to conduct field work, which may include travel to remote areas by vehicle, boat, air, or foot, overnight or extended stay in rough camp conditions and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Willing and able to operate a variety of equipment.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.

Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
