The Team
Chilliwack Community Corrections is a well-established team consisting of 20 positions including probation officers, administrative assistants, an office manager, senior probation officers, and a local manager. We work diligently to deliver an excellent level of client service and collaborate with various community partners to support our clients in making lasting pro-social change. The Role
The Administrative assistants are the first point of contact for clients at the Chilliwack Community Corrections Office. Administrative assistants are responsible for answering incoming calls, entering incoming documents to CORNET, and maintaining digital files to ensure the smooth flow of office processes. There is an emphasis on organization, accuracy, and efficiency. It is a challenging role with opportunities to devise effective systems and streamline procedures for the benefit of the whole team. This role is suitable for those who thrive on organization, client and colleague interactions, and growing in knowledge of the criminal justice system.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary School graduation and six (6) months of related experience working in a clerical, secretarial, receptionist or administrative support role;
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered;
  • Minimum keyboard speed of 30 words per minute (WPM).

Preference may be given to those with:

  • More than six (6) months of related experience working in a clerical, secretarial, receptionist or administrative support role;
  • Completion of a post-secondary certificate, program or course in office administration; 
  • Experience working in an office setting providing services within the Justice System (Court Services, Correctional Centre, BC Prosecution Services, Youth Justice, legal office, justice focused non-profit);
  • Valid Class 5 B.C. driver’s license without restrictions or an equivalent Canadian driver’s license. A valid BC Class 7 may be considered.

About this Position:
This position is part time (0.5 FTE, 35 hours biweekly)
This position has full time on-site requirements.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
A Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) and Enhanced Security Screening will be required.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
