Job Overview
The Project Coordinator conducts project administration and coordination functions for EMCR’s Community Recovery & Resilience Funding Branch for a variety of small to large scale structural and non-structural disaster risk reduction projects and disaster risk reduction funding programs throughout the project management life cycle (i.e., initiation, planning, execution, control and close-out). Activities include (but are not limited to) coordinating and drafting correspondence (briefing notes, letters, media releases), development of program materials, drafting contracts and amendments, financial tracking, reimbursing claims, developing proposal evaluation criteria, assisting with funding intakes and proposal evaluations, supporting lessons-learned processes, and communicating with funding applicants/recipients. In addition, the Project Coordinator is directly accountable for assigned portions (e.g., sub projects) of larger disaster risk reduction projects as a project team member.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, public administration, natural resource management, geography, planning, or other discipline related to the position PLUS a minimum of 1 year in each of the related* experiences; OR
- Diploma in business administration, public administration, natural resource management, geography, planning, or other discipline related to the position PLUS a minimum of 2 years in each of the related* experiences; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and training with related* experience may be considered.
Related* experience must include the following:
- Program/project development, delivery, and administration.
- Financial monitoring, tracking, and reporting.
- Procurement, contract management and/or directing the work of contracted resources.
Preference may be given to candidates with:
- One or more years of experience in disaster mitigation, natural resource management, climate change adaptation, and/or physical geography. This includes post-secondary education, and work, lived or volunteer experience.
- One or more years of experience with capital or infrastructure programs/components.
Provisos/Willingness Statements:
Candidates must be able and willing to:
- Work on-call and extended hours during emergency activations.
- Work operational deployments across the province.
- Travel occasionally throughout the province.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
