Description

The Team
Internal Audit and Advisory Services (IAAS) provides independent and objective assurance and advice to strengthen financial management, governance, accountability, and performance across the BC public sector. The team supports Treasury Board in addressing their responsibility for effective financial management and governance in the Government of British Columbia. IAAS works with ministries, agencies, Crowns, Boards, and commissions to assess operations and improve practices. The Role
This position contributes to financial management and program audits as well as advisory engagements. The position is responsible for planning projects, analyzing complex issues, gathering and documenting evidence, and developing practical recommendations to strengthen controls and processes. The role also helps drafting clear and concise reports, communicates effectively with clients and colleagues, and may lead staff on project assignments. The role manages multiple priorities, handles sensitive matters with professionalism, and maintains current knowledge of audit standards and practices.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Completion of a recognized Canadian accounting designation or equivalency, and/or other relevant education, including MPA, MBA, CIA. Preference may be given to applicants with CPA designation.
  • Minimum of one year of recent related experience in audit/advisory services. Preference may be given to applicants with a minimum of one year of experience in internal or performance audit.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Proviso

  • Occasional travel outside the Victoria area is a requirement of this position.

This position can be based out of any of the locations listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
Enhanced Security Screening will be required.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
This position is excluded from union membership.
