The Team
The Consumer Taxation Audit Branch (CTAB) is part of the Ministry of Finance which is one of the largest provincial ministries. The branch is a dynamic force in tax compliance across BC. CTAB conducts audits under several acts for the province’s consumption tax systems, promoting a fair and equitable business environment. The Role
The position is responsible for the planning and conducting of tax audits, in accordance with current legislation and branch standards, on taxpayers with a focus on complex operations and/ or large businesses operating in British Columbia. This position is responsible for reporting on audit findings and establishing evidence supporting offences under several consumption tax statutes and agreements administered by the branch to optimize tax revenue to the province. 

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Professional accounting designation CPA - CA, CGA, CMA, issued by CPA Canada. 
    • Note: If your designation was obtained from outside of Canada, you will need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency by CPA Canada.
  • Minimum of three (3) years audit and/or accounting experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5, BC driver’s license or equivalent, with no L restrictions.

Preference statement

  • Preference may be given to candidates with audit experience in a consumption tax environment.

Proviso/Willingness statements

  • Overnight travel out of headquarters area may be required depending on the needs of a specific audit.

Remote work is allowed, this position can work up to full time from their home in British Columbia subject to an approved telework agreement.
