Job Overview
The Director, Management Services leads a diverse team of included and excluded staff. The Director is accountable for corporate business systems including audit, cash control, expenditure control, revenue management, records management, equipment, facilities and fleet, human resource management, freedom of information and protection of privacy/information security, emergency preparedness, and disaster recovery.
The Director exercises significant discretion and is expected to work independently and exercise sound judgement with minimal direction. The Director is responsible for delivering large-scale strategic and government-wide priorities (i.e., government modernization) by working with diverse partners, senior government executives, central agencies, service providers, and ministry partners; and must ensure government accountabilities, policy, and legislation are upheld.
The Director is a key member of the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch (LCRB) Executive Committee and guides the decision of others through the development of policy, and the leadership and implementation of strategic and organizational projects.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Degree in public administration, business administration, accounting, or related field plus three (3) years recent related experience OR
- Diploma in a related field (e.g. public administration, business administration, accounting, etc.) plus five (5) years recent related experience OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Recent related experience (gained within the last seven (7) years) must include all of the following:
- leading corporate service functions (e.g., finance, human resources, facilities, administration, etc.) for a medium to large size public sector organization.
- experience in government financial management and applying of accounting principles.
- experience establishing and reconciling program and project objectives, priorities, and budgets.
- experience leading and resolving complex staff and/or client issues.
- experience leading multi-disciplinary staff including developing and evaluating employee performance, coaching, team building and mentoring staff.
Additional Required Experience:
- One (1) year experience supporting Treasury Board submissions.
Preference may be given to candidates with the following:
- Five (5) years recent (gained within the last seven (7) years) experience establishing and reconciling program and project objectives, priorities, and budgets.
- Five (5) years recent (gained within the last seven (7) years) experience leading and resolving complex staff and/or client issues.
- Three (3) years experience dealing with politically sensitive and provincially significant issues.
- One (1) or more years experience directly leading Treasury Board submissions.
- One (1) or more years experience overseeing FOI and/or records management functions.

About this Position:
This position can be based out of Burnaby or Victoria.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This position is excluded from union membership.
