This is a restricted lateral posting open to employees who hold a grid level 3A base position.
Job Overview
Reporting to a Section Head or an excluded manager, the Senior Licenced Authorizations Officer provides specialist services to the Natural Resource Sector in evaluating resource applications, making natural resource authorization decisions, and leading or participating in complex projects in the North Area. This position may supervise professional and technical staff.

Professional Registration and Certification Requirements
- Registered, or immediately (within 6 months) eligible for registration, as a fully licensed professional with the British Columbia professional association as required by the specialty area (i.e., Association of Forest Professionals, Institute of Agrologists, Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists). Note: “Immediately eligible for registration” means meeting all requirements for full professional registration and completing the process of obtaining full registration with the relevant BC professional association within six (6) months of employment.
- Degree in the natural resource field or equivalent as recognized by the relevant association and two years related work experience.
Related Experience includes:
- Experience (field/office) working in natural resource management; preference will be given for experience related to water management.
- Experience performing technical duties and working with key statutes (acts and regulations) that support natural resource management; preference will be given for experience related to water management.
- Experience in negotiating and consulting with relevant parties in natural resource management; preference will be given for experience related to water management.
- Experience with project management of major projects (e.g., IPP’s, major mines, etc.) and complex water files.
- Experience as a Statutory Decision Maker; preference will be given for more than one year of experience with authority under the WSA.
- Experience in supervising, leading, coaching, and mentoring staff; preference will be given for more than one year of experience.
- Experience managing First Nations’ or partner engagement processes, negotiations, and public outreach.
- Experience with compliance and enforcement of statutes; preference will be given for experience related to water management.
- Experience designing, implementing, or leading hydrological or water quantity monitoring programs to support natural resource and watershed management decisions.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work 2 or more days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
Depending on the successful candidate’s location, a bi-weekly isolation allowance may apply.
