The Team
The Associate Deputy Minister will oversee a newly created portfolio within the Ministry of Children and Family Development, focused on child safety and well-being. This role is responsible for the divisions of Practice and Quality Assurance, Indigenous Child Welfare, and Service Delivery, and will provide strategic direction and operational oversight for these areas. This position will be a key member of the Associate Deputy Minister’s Office (ADMO). The ADMO will engage regularly with other divisions across the Ministry, other ministries, the Minister’s Office, other jurisdictions, Indigenous governments, and key partners to support Ministry operations and advance strategic priorities.

The Role
The Senior Executive Assistant (SEA) provides secretarial and administrative services to the newly created position of Associate Deputy Minister responsible for the operational child safety and well-being portfolio. In this role, you will prepare confidential materials and correspondence, oversee calendar and schedule management, and ensure deadlines are met. Additionally, the SEA will develop and maintain administrative systems, anticipate information needs, coordinate meetings with partners, and arrange travel for the executive.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • At least two (2) years experience supporting a senior executive within an executive office (e.g., Assistant Deputy Minister or Deputy Minister).
  • At least two (2) years experience managing complex calendars and coordinating high‑level meetings for senior executives.
  • At least two (2) years experience booking and coordinating travel arrangements within a BC Public Service setting.
  • At least two (2) years experience working in a virtual environment, including proficiency with virtual meeting tools, while also supporting in‑person meetings.
  • At least two (2) years experience working in a highly confidential and politically sensitive office environment.


Preference may be give to applicants with:
 

  • Additional years of related experience across any of the above requirements.
  • Post‑secondary education in a related field (e.g., business administration, public administration, communications, human resources).

About this Position:
This position is excluded from union membership.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to few days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
