Job Overview
The Research, Innovation and Policy Division provides research, policy and legislation support to the ministry, enabling the successful delivery of services to improve the lives of British Columbians. The division leads the government on the Poverty Reduction Strategy, and aids in poverty reduction and disability initiatives across government.

Reporting to a Director, the Manager supports the poverty reduction team to undertake policy development related to poverty reduction and the ministry’s mandate. The Manager supports the development, implementation and evaluation of large multi-faceted policy initiatives and projects with multiple key deliverables. The position is responsible for managing multiple internal and external partner relationships.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Degree in business administration, public administration, economics, law, social sciences, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum 2 years demonstrated experience in each area noted below.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Related experience must include:
    • Experience supporting the development of strategic social policy initiatives, including policy frameworks, legislation, regulations and/or policy changes with broad client impacts.
    • Experience managing multiple competing projects or components (e.g., sub-project) of a major project.
    • Experience building and managing relationships with internal and external partners and developing consultation and engagement plans.
    • Experience managing a team and providing direction and support to team members, including professional employees, and/or consultants.
    • Experience developing and delivering executive-level briefing materials in a range of formats (oral, written, visual) to support decision-making.
    • Experience providing strategic advice to senior government officials, or equivalent in the non-profit or business sector.
       

Preferences

  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience related to reducing poverty and/or improving the social inclusion of populations more likely to live in poverty. (For example, this may include Indigenous Peoples, single parents, persons with disabilities, immigrants and refugees, individuals who are homeless, youth in care, or others).

About this Position:
Remote work is allowed, this position can work up to full time from their home in British Columbia subject to an approved telework agreement. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.
