Description

This is a restricted lateral posting open to employees who hold a Grid Level 2A base position.

Job Overview
The Licensed Authorizations Officer provides professional advice and may make decisions in a field of expertise of a program area, (e.g.: forest tenures, appraisal review, cruise evaluation and waste assessments) to support natural resource management and decision making for the Natural Resource Sector.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Registered, or immediately eligible for registration within six (6) months of employment, with Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC) as a Registered Professional Forester (RPF). Note: “Immediately eligible for registration” means meeting all requirements for full professional registration and completing the process of obtaining full registration with the relevant BC professional association within six (6) months of employment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience as recognized by FPBC.
  • Must have and maintain valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence or equivalent.
  • Experience working in natural resource management.
  • Experience performing technical duties and working with key statutes that support natural resource management.
  • Experience in consulting, negotiating and resolving conflicts with partners and stakeholders in natural resource management.

Preference may be given to those with one (1) or more of the following:

  • Two (2) or more years of experience in leading, coaching and mentoring staff.
  • Experience in forest revenue, appraisals, issuance of tenures on Crown land or other functions related to forest management.
  • Experience working with Forestry Licence to Cuts, Occupant Licence to Cuts, and Special Use Permits.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work 2 or more days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.
