This is a restricted lateral posting open to employees who hold a Grid 3A base position

Job Overview
To lead, guide and coordinate the research, analysis, development and implementation of strategic policies and legislation, standards and codes in a subject/program area for a significant Ministry program that is critical to the achievement of priority goals and objectives. Project can be taken from original concepts through to final completion. Provide expertise while participating on national and provincial multi-agency policy development initiatives, and overseeing program delivery of technical and professional projects. Provide expert advice and make recommendations on the application of legislation and policy to management and government officials. To support investigative teams through internal investigations and complex investigations of significant offences and ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and other standards, and provide senior professional compliance and enforcement compliance and services.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:

  • University Degree in a related discipline (e.g., Public Administration, Natural Resource Management, Business Administration, or equivalent) with a minimum of five (5) years of experience.
  • Degree in a related professional field or equivalent as recognized by the relevant association.
  • Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) with Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC). Note: “Immediately eligible for registration” means meeting all requirements for full professional registration and completing the process of obtaining full registration with the relevant BC professional association within six (6) months of employment.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience managing technical and/or professional staff in resource management or infrastructure development.
  • Experience in evidence/science-based policy development in resource management or infrastructure development.
  • Experience in leading, mentoring and supervising staff.
  • Experience managing multiple projects or leading a component (e.g., sub-project) of a major project.

About this Position:
Please note this position is currently situated within the Ministry of Forests; however, effective July 1, 2026, Compliance and Enforcement functions across the natural resource sector will transition to the newly established BC Compliance and Enforcement Agency (BC-CEA) within the Ministry of Environment and Parks.
There is currently one (1) permanent, full time position available.
This position can be based out of one of the above locations.
Depending on the successful candidate’s location, a bi-weekly isolation allowance may apply.
This position has full time on-site requirements.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.
Enhanced Security Screening will be required.
