This is a restricted lateral posting open to employees who hold a Grid 24 base position.
Job Overview
Reporting to the Manager, Audit & Assurance the Senior Auditor is responsible for conducting diverse types of audits and monitoring performance of agencies that contract with the Ministry to verify the appropriate use of government funding.
The Senior Auditor must possess a strong attention to detail with an emphasis on number precision to ensure audit work delivered is accurate and represents the agencies’ performance & use of the Ministry’s funding in a fair and factual manner. The incumbent must also be able to manage multiple priorities in a diligent & responsible manner and perform in a fast-paced environment, as well as place a high value on integrity in carrying out their day-to-day duties. Travelling within BC to conduct audit fieldwork at the agencies’ site is also required.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Professional Accounting Designation CPA, ACCA, or CA from a recognized accounting association.
- Note: If your designation was obtained from outside of Canada, you will need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through CPA Canada in order to be considered.
- Minimum 2 years of audit experience.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in reviewing and analysing financial statements.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in conducting risk assessment to identify key risk areas of entities.
Preference may be given to applicants:
- Who have a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation, in good standing.
- With experience in contract compliance audits and/or use of funds audits.
- With experience working with indigenous groups or organizations.
- With experience organizing large databases into meaningful information using excel.
- Who self-identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.
Proviso/Willingness statement:
- Possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver’s licence with no restriction or equivalent (i.e., from another Canadian Province).
- Position required to travel within the Province of BC to conduct audit fieldwork at the agencies’ sites.

This position can be based in any of the following Ministry of Child and Family Development offices: Vancouver, Surrey, Victoria, Nanaimo , Prince George, Kelowna, Kamloops
