Job Overview
The Supervisor, Financial Services leads a team of clerks in providing financial processing and records management services.  The team provides direct client support in the verification and processing of financial transactions for NRM programs and ensures the integrity and maintenance of financial records and supplier files for up to seven (7) NR ministries across the province.

The Financial Services Supervisor is often called on to help solve technical issues, develop new procedures, provide insight, and may act for the Team Lead.  They may also be responsible for managing centralized services across the province, such as responding to financial Freedom of Information and document retrieval requests for audits/litigation, reconciliation of accounts, tracking of high profile/complex transactions and managing bank deposits.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation plus formal financial management or accounting course work. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a financial computerized environment, including: processing transactions, analysing results, and adhering to administrative policies and processes.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in the Accounts Payable, General Ledger and Purchase Order modules of a financial system such as the Oracle, Corporate Financial System, (i.e., performing system entries and corrections).

Preference may be given to applications with one or more of the following:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a supervisor.
  • Minimum 1 year experience working in the Oracle, Corporate Financial System.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in financial reporting, including: researching and responding to queries and coordinating the assembly of financial data for review or inclusion in financial statements or audits.
  • Six (6) months’ experience working with accounting principles and the application of general finance and administration policies and processes.
