Job Overview
Reporting to the District Stewardship Officer, the Land and Resource Coordinator is primarily responsible for the implementation of Wildfire Risk Reduction projects within the Sea to Sky Natural Resource District including planning, prescriptions and operational treatment.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Registered or immediately eligible for registration as a Registered Forest Technologist (RFT) or related designation in BC with Forest Professionals BC (FPBC). Note: “Immediately eligible for registration” means meeting all requirements for full professional registration and completing the process of obtaining full registration with the relevant BC professional association within six (6) months of employment.
  • Technical Diploma or higher in a natural resource management related field (e.g., Forestry, Geography, or Natural Resource Management) or an equivalent combination of education/training.
  • One (1) or more years of experience working in a natural resource discipline.
  • Experience managing multiple projects or leading a component (e.g., sub-project) of a major project.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing, building and maintaining co-operative and productive partnerships and effectively negotiating and consulting with multiple/concurrent external partners and stakeholders.

Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following: 

  • Directly related operational experience, which may include wildfire risk reduction, ecosystem restoration, and/or silviculture.
  • Experience in harvesting field practices, multi-phase development, including site plan creation and/or integrated resource management.
  • Experience in contract management.

  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence.

About this Position:

This position is located in Squamish.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
